The problem: The design of the blog was not consistent with the brand identity or look of the main site, this caused confusion when a user navigated between the two. The old blog also had navigation issues making it hard for a user to find what they wanted to read.
The solution: Using WordPress and additional Themify tools I was able to create a design for the blog that was aligned with the brand style guide while maintaining all existing posts and pages. This work included adding article search to the blog landing page and product search to the header of the blog.
The outcome: In user testing participants commented that they found the blog much easier to use when researching a UK cottage break. We lowered the bounce rate of users coming to the blog from the main site and we hypothesise that this was partly due to the closer alignment in style between the two.
