Problem: We have lots of staff members who go to visit hotels around the world on familiarisation trips, we want them to bring back lots of facts for our websites and to help them better sell our product. Unfortunately the paper notes they take lack standardisation, often get lost and end up in the bottom of a draw.
Solution: After exploring lots of different app solutions (and trialling one that we subsequently dropped) I built a survey style app that could be used ‘in the field’ by staff. I used a platform that didn’t require coding to build our app.
Outcome: The app could be downloaded to a work iPad in the office and then used in offline mode while out on the trip. When the user next had WiFi their data was synchronised to a central database. The database was then used by any member of staff to browse useful facts from a web interface.
