Problem: With a website full of informative content is can be hard to add a sprinkle of magic to the customer journey. Sometimes a barrier to calling to book can be the anxiety caused by not being able to pronounce the destination.
Solution: I worked alongside one of our development team, during our lunch hours, to create a new feature utilising Forvo – the online dictionary of pronunciations. We used the Forvo API to request JSON data which includes a link to the mp3 file of the pronunciation.
Outcome: Out content team can easily tag a word in our CMS, this word then appears highlighted on the site, when customer clicks the word they hear the top pronunciation of that word from Forvo. The feature is both a delighter and useful for the customer in equal measure.
